I feel, therefore I create: Emotional croquis

There have been quite a few requests to share what art supplies one can use for the exercises in my book Painting the Landscape of Your Soul, or in my online workshops .

So we decided to pick an exercise from the book and choice a few supplies to explore with.

I feel, therefore I create: Emotional croquis

From Painting the Landscape of Your Soul page 133

In French, croquis means quick sketches, drawings that are quick expressions of a shape and energy, not necessarily a likeness. they will help you stay out of your rational mind and focus on what you presently feel. respond to what you see and feel without worrying about right or wrong, perfect or ugly—raw or refined.

Just respond.

Copy each word below onto separate pieces of paper then put them in a bowl.

Set up your creative space.

• Get grounded and balanced with your breath. When you are ready, pull a card from the bowl and respond to the word with color, shape, and form.

• respond on paper for about a minute, and pull another and respond, using the same sheet of paper.

Another way of warming up your emotions and creative self is to make an audio recording of the emotions as you pull them out of the bowl.

Give yourself three minutes between each word. When you are ready, play it, hear, feel, and respond. (to shake up the order of the words, shuffle the recording.)
